The Racing Game

THE RACING GAME/YTV/1979-1980 (Injured Hand)

Sid Halley (Mike Gwilym), a champion steeplechase jockey destroys his left hand in an accident and discovers a new career as a detective.

Urged by his aristocratic father to get his life back on track, Sid struggles to succeed in his new endeavor as a private eye. With help from friend and martial-arts expert, Chico Barnes (Mick Ford), Sid infiltrates the cutthroat world of British horseracing and brings down those who would corrupt it.

The series is based on the novel Odds Against and other stories written by former jockey and bestselling author Dick Francis.  These six mysteries aired on Britain’s ITV in 1979-80, and came to the U.S. via PBS’s Mystery! series in 1980.
